Zaiban is an experienced barrister, having practising law for nearly 20 years.

Her speciality is in criminal law, and in particular sexual offending.

She is passionate about human rights and played an instrumental part in what became known as the Rotherham 12 trial, a violent disorder that occurred in the wake of far right protests post the jay Report and disclosures of CSE in Rotherham. She represented one of the defendants and was the only local counsel involved in the case.

She works as an investigator for the International Truth and Justice Project Sri Lanka, which investigates war crimes and human rights abuses, in particular sexual violence in the context of the Sri Lankan civil war.

She is a director at Apna Haq and has recently been invited to join the board of directors at Just Yorkshire.
