Authentic Stories from Diners
Rather average Sunday dinner at pickled sprout, obviously in December the place is very popular and busy and the staff did a fantastic job, sadly the food was very average, every dish needed more flavour, the prawn cocktail was very bland and boring, it's such a simple dish that you can modernise give more oomph. The bread and tiny bit of butter felt like I was eating in the 90s. The cauliflower cheese was dry with no flavour. The beef and the pork were good quality and well cooked but that's as far as the positives go. Will we go back for a Sunday lunch....? I doubt it. But may come back to try some different dishes when the kitchen isnt so busy.
A beautiful dining experience. Staff attentive and pleasant. Setting is divine, an absolute gem of a find in a beautiful cobbled street in Harrogate. A must visit. Food cooked beautifully and plenty of it.
Amazing place! Food was fantastic and drinks were as expected. The service was friendly and nice too. We had the seafood share platter, garlic bread and chips. Really nice place inside and out. We shall definitely be returning when in town and would highly recommend to everyone.
I’m a regular here for Sunday lunch and usually don’t leave reviews, but after another fantastic meal last night, I felt I should share just how good this place is. The Sunday lunch at The Pickled Sprout is one of our absolute favorites in Harrogate – beautifully presented, with lovely sides, the best cauliflower cheese, and unbeatable Yorkshire puddings. Last night we came for dinner, and the food was absolutely stunning. Between the four of us, we tried the Twice Baked Hebden Goat’s Cheese Soufflé, Crispy Sweet Chilli Pork Belly, Wild Mushroom Bordelaise, and Baked Queenie Scallops – every single starter was delicious and presented so beautifully that we couldn’t resist taking photos. For mains, all four of us had the Minute Sirloin Steak Frites (£21.95), served with coleslaw, shoestring fries, garlic & herb butter, and rocket (GF). Cooked perfectly, full of flavor, and beautifully presented again – it really was spot on. The Garden Room at the front is a gorgeous setting to enjoy a meal, the staff are fantastic, and everything is so well run. I can’t recommend The Pickled Sprout highly enough – whether for Sunday lunch or dinner, it’s always a brilliant experience and well worth a visit!
The food is beautifully presented, served fresh and piping hot. The staff are delightfully polite and attentive. We were staying for a conference and ate here each evening. A special mention should be made of Ethan who is a very charming, friendly and efficient waiter. He gives service with a sparkling smile.
