Authentic Stories from Diners
The Feathers is unashamedly unpretentious, a delightful hostelry with rooms in Helmsley. We had a wonderful night away, great room, clean and comfortable and a fantastic 3 course dinner with breakfast chaser. The staff were friendly and clearly enjoy their roles. To top it off the stay was great value for money and a fabulous tonic as we head into spring; highly recommended.
From the minute we arrived we were welcomed show to our table as we had ordered an afternoon tea. We were made to feel quite special excellent service and excellent food. Our room was a wonderful surprise. Decoration and attention to room furnishings was well thought it. Heavy duty curtains with lovely tie backs. Also a blind to the window, so that on a morning we could move around the room in privacy. Two very comfortable chairs which is unusual in most rooms a lovely little coffee table between the chairs. The bed was a wonderful size and clean with extra cushions. The bathroom was excellent with walking shower all toiletries very pleasing. Also robe and slippers a very welcome extra. My pet hate in hotel rooms is a lack of points for plugs. There was a wonderful abundance of sockets. To top off the experience there was a espresso machine in the room as well as tea making facilities and bottled water. All members of staff were an absolute asset to the hotel. So pleasant, helpful, professional and friendly. I highly recommend The Feathers Hotel to anyone. Please keep up the good work Coaching Inns
Super friendly & welcoming staff. All very smiley & happy 😊 Room was comfy and loads of pillows/cushions & a modern bathroom with some lovely products for the guests to use. Location is situated right on the square with local co op, cafe & pubs, right on the doorstep. Lovely choice for breakfast and drinks. If I had any criticism, the room was a little on the small side, although they did manage to squeeze in bedside tables with USB charge points in the lamps (useful) a TV, large mirror & dressing table. We would definitely use again. Thanks 👍
My wife had booked a room at The Feathers as a birthday treat for me and she had made a great choice. All of the staff were really friendly and welcoming, our room was really good, nice and clean and really quiet. A big thanks to Chris (the night manager). There was a slight problem with our room key which he resolved and I would have left my box of beers etc. from Helmsley Brewing in the bar if he hadn’t spotted it - Cheers Chris!
Stay. Done The Feathers is one of our favourite hotels and we have been coming here for several years. As ever, check in was quick and efficient with Mary making us feel most welcome. Our Deluxe room was very smart and most comfortable, with lovely views across the Market Place. Breakfast is served at the table (rather than those awful buffet affairs) and fulfils my simple requirements of a cooked breakfast, ie quality ingredients, perfectly cooked and nicely presented. Our Full English was top notch and the eggs Benedict we had on our second morning were perfection on a plate. Our cooked breakfasts were preceded by fruit salad and yogurt and I must mention that although these options are always available, they aren’t actually included in the menu, which could mean that some guests might miss out, and I heard one lady say that she didn’t realise that she could have cereal. I would suggest therefore that such options are reinstated on the menu. As an aside, I should also mention that the hotel bar is easily the smartest in town and is very comfortable. As expected, the service here is also top class, as it has been throughout our stay. The Coaching Inn Group is our favourite hotel chain and over the years we have stayed in many of their hotels. Without doubt the Feathers in Helmsley is our favourite, and while much of the attraction here is the sheer class of the hotel, the beautiful location and the comfortable style of the building, the biggest asset is undoubtedly the staff. Whether it is the reception team, the serving staff, cleaners or whoever, they are all incredibly friendly and give the impression of loving what they do, and they make you feel valued and most welcome. Special people make a special place, which is why we keep coming back.
