The service was lovely, we were well looked after by staff - no complaints on service! After reading other reviews I was expecting some really fantastic pub grub. I understand cost of living prices are through the roof however I was mildly disappointed by the fish sandwich and smash burger we ordered. £17.50 for a patty and bacon between brioche didn’t seem up to scratch, I know some people don’t like leaves but some leaves/ veg would have made the cost somewhat understandable. The fish sandwich was a similar story. We also had dessert which was yummy enough but for £8.50 it wasn’t anything special to write home about.
The pub had new owners who only arrived the day before. Theakston Best was excellent & well kept. Service good if a bit hap hazard, fires burning but needs proper wood. All in all has potential given they had only just opened up again. Food good, if a tad expensive. Dessert was being made as the evening progressed!
Great place to eat and the food quality was high. Starters delicious, Sunday lunch delicious. The service was excellent too. So why not 5 stars.......Just the cost and I realise it's tough with the cost of food, and the cost of quality items to cook with but when your paying for a family ( 2 adults and 2 teenagers too big for kids meals) it all adds up. So will have to save for very special occasions or for just me and the missus. Good job though!
Went with my family on Christmas Day and had the most lovely time. Laura and her team were very welcoming. Our meal was absolutely amazing, the service was perfect and food was delivered in great time, not rushed at all. Fantastic atmosphere throughout the pub, everyone enjoying themselves. We will definitely be booking again and would love to share Christmas here again x
Travelling from Preston to Beverley and took a wrong turn which took us to this wonderful pub today. They were fully booked for Sunday lunch but fitted us in at short notice and couldn’t have been more welcoming. The food was top notch and the roast beef & Yorkshire pudding was perfect! Thanks for making it a memorable trip through the dales today! ❤️❤️
