Wensleydale Heifer

WOW.....what a great getaway with my friends. Our room was spotless and the food was really nice. Lovely location ideal to relax and read a good book, which I was able to do. I definitely recommend Wensleydale Heifer, a great place to chill and if you love chocolate, then book the chocolate room. I will certainly stay there again!

I have heard so much about the Wensleydale Heifer that I was really excited to visit, but I found the experience underwhelming. The food - The food was brilliant, I have to say it was really good and I would say priced fairly considering how good it is. I had the Fish n Chip challenge though which took 90 minutes to be delivered to our table, in fact I had to chase the waitress for how long it would be. The rationale as to why it was taking so long was because it was so big and needed the entire fryer. Thats fine, but do I have to wait for every other diner to clear their plates before I get mine? If it's such an issue, take it off your menu or buy a bigger fryer. Or at the least tell the customer it will be a substantial wait. That should be a minimum so you are not watching others eating and wondering where the heck your own meal is. The room - We stayed in the Gin room so I can only comment on our room, but they are all themed and some look nicer. That said, there is no way, absolutely no way the room we had was worth £260 a night!! The WH are either living on past glories or know they have a captive audience. The room was pretty basic and the type of room that I would think would be half the cost. The shower was electric and weak and after a minute of showering it stopped working. Annoyingly, I got my shower at just after 6pm and our reservation was for 6.3.0pm so it was pointless asking for it to be fixed prior to dinner so I went down slightly dishevelled after a days walking. I mentioned it to the staff and they were apologetic and it was fixed whilst we ate (they had two hours after all), but yeah, if you like woodchip wallpaper in the hallways, weak electric showers, its perfect. The bed though, wow, that was lush. Super comfortable. Would I return? For food yes, for accomodation, nope.

A lovely lunch, 6 of us were greatly accommodated! The food was amazing- the vegetarian menu options were impressive and delicious. The front of house staff were warm, knowledgeable and provided excellent service. Really impressive! Desserts were the star of the show, the lemon trio was gorgeous! A big thank you to all the staff! The interior was really cool and loved the ladie’s loo’s!

Absolutely stunning establishment, our second visit together and the food is outstanding. We had our favourite valentines day in 22 years together here. Beautifully relaxed environment paired with fantastic service, the staff go above and beyond. We will definitely be regulars!

Stayed here for my birthday and from start to finish have had an amazing time. So much food, drink and chats with friendly staff and guests made the whole experience of our stay enjoyable. A little hidden gem in our gorgeous Yorkshire dales should be tried by anyone who loves delicious food cooked to perfection. Every dish sourced locally and with so much taste infused into every mouthful it really was a culinary delight. Our stay in the chocolate room had so many chocolaty treats to enjoy and also a very good choice of beverages in the mini bar. There was also complementary water and milk for general teas and coffee for our stay. The amenities was extremely clean and very comfortable and had the luxury temple spar products to use which was an added bonus too. This has been the best birthday treat I've had and would definitely recommend coming back here again.
