Authentic Stories from Diners
Me and my hubby chose this restaurant to celebrate valentine day. We arrived 15 min prior booking (18:15) and after verifying our booking and asked about allergies, the lovely lady took us to our table. Candle light dinner and music in background was perfect start of the evening. The food was delicious and the starter drinks, not included in The Valentine menu, were very sweet to our liking. We wished we were told that the drinks aren’t included in the valentine menu, maybe our fault because we didn’t ask, otherwise we wouldn’t have ordered them. We got a bottle of rose and after opening the bottle and started drinking we realised that the waiter brought the wrong wine. It wasn’t bad but wasn’t what we ordered. After having starters and mains we waited for the desserts and were never brought. We waited 40 min and then the waiter came and said that we have to leave the table because they “needed the table”, and I said what about our deserts? Needless to say that we got up paid for the food and asked for refund for the deserts that we never received. We aren’t coming back to Browns!
Warm and friendly service and lovely food. A big thank you for Chloe and Alex for making our evening extra special.
Went for dinner on Christmas Day. Service was so slow and poor despite multiple members of staff on for the day. Had to ask several staff members each time for drinks, and courses. I’m gluten free - meal was entirely pre-booked and in the booking that I was gluten free (4 people). They brought a pre-starter to the table that was cheese and crackers. They brought me a bowl of cocktail olives. If you thought the Christmas crackers would be luxury gifts - I got marbles. 😉😂 The booking was supposed to be for 2 hours we were there for closer to 4 waiting for food to be served. No joke it was over an hour between the starter and the main. The presentation was vastly different between gluten and gluten free versions. One member of the party who was not gluten free didn’t receive stuffing or pigs in blankets and staff were so slow to acknowledge or action. Ordered coffees and teas to come with puddings. But the drinks didn’t come until after pudding dishes were being cleared away. They then brought out mince pies for those able to eat gluten. I mean every grocery store does their own brand of gluten free mince pies - how could you not have any especially with a specific NCGI menu?? I was offered chocolates, but without knowing the ingredients I didn’t partake. The music was on a loop and was starting over not long after we had our pudding. For a first impression of Browns this was lacklustre, and doesn’t look like I’m gonna repeat the experience.
The perfect place for a brilliant breakfast and a post graduation giggle with bubbles. Joe and the team could not have been more friendly, helpful amd attentive. Would highly recommend from everyday to celebration. This is a brand that travels well but always feels personal and local.
Excellent place in the middle of Sheffield. Lovely old building. All the usual facilities you could expect, all nice n clean n sparkling. Frank Sinatra songs playing in the toilet! Spacious outdoor seating area on the main thoroughfare. Just right for watching the world go by. Well worth a visit.
