Rafters Restaurant

We had an incredible evening at Rafters and the entire experience exceeded our expectations. From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere felt warm, elegant and relaxed, and the staff were attentive, knowledgeable and genuinely welcoming. We chose the Kitchen Bench tasting menu with the wine pairing, and every course was beautifully presented and full of flavour. Each dish felt thoughtfully created, balancing creativity with comfort, and the wine pairing elevated the whole experience perfectly. One of the highlights of the evening was sitting at the kitchen bench and watching the team work. The sous chef was fantastic — he took the time to come out of the kitchen to present the dishes to us and explain them, which made the experience feel very personal. It was fascinating to watch the precision and care that goes into every plate, and he was great to watch in action. The desserts were the highlight of the evening, especially the date pudding with PX caramel and pecan. It was absolutely outstanding — rich, indulgent and perfectly balanced, and one of the best desserts we’ve had in a long time. Overall, the food, wine, service and atmosphere were all exceptional. It was a truly memorable dining experience and we would highly recommend Rafters to anyone looking for a special evening in Sheffield. We will definitely be returning.

Excellent experience. Food was unique and great quality, made with thought and care. Certain elements could probably do with some balancing but overall very good. Service and ambience was impeccable.

Wonderful meal in a beautiful restaurant. The courses were really inventive and wine pairing worked perfectly (including with the bread course!) We found it impossible to choose our favourite course - sea bream, agnolotti or trout - all were excellent. Staff were lovely and so much fun. A great start to our Sheffield weekend.

March 2025. Consistently amazing! This was not our first visit and definitely will not be our last. Once again the whole experience was impeccable. The team are charming and knowledgeable and do everything with flair. The food has such depth of flavour and every dish was a delight. It's hard to pick a favourite with so many taste sensations on the menu - cod cheek, halibut, duck, and more - everything was sublime, including the champagne. Congratulations to Dan and the team! Michelin star is surely well overdue!

We finally made it to Rafters after wanting to visit for so long, and it did not disappoint! The food was absolutely outstanding, and the service was just as impressive. Was really surprising they put a special touch on the menu with my name, made the experience more special. Honestly, we’re surprised it hasn’t earned a Michelin star yet. The staff were all so welcoming and friendly, making the experience even better. We’ll definitely be returning soon for special celebrations!
