Authentic Stories from Diners
Tasty food but service was lacking. No checks from staff to see if everything was OK with our meals, and when we pointed out that one dish we ordered didn't match the description on the menu, the server simply replied,"Oh, right, I'll let the kitchen know" and wandered off. We were also disappointed to see that The Curious Fox adds a service charge to the bill too - especially after such mediocre care from the staff, despite there bring plenty of them hanging around. I raised these points with management via email afterwards but got no reply so they're obviously not too bothered about their guests' experience or feedback. The food was nice overall and the vibe is fun and quite cosy but this experience really put us odf returning
Nothing is ever perfect, but at The Curious Fox it comes mighty close. (Book directly through them only - we booked through booking.com, it worked out more expensive). We stayed in room 5, the water issues we had let it down a little but not enough to dampen the experience. The food is excellent, my LambShank was cooked perfectly. As for the breakfast, wow 👌
Stayed here for a couple of days. Lovely place, rooms were lovely. Staff as friendly as could be, Restaurant was very nice, the food was to a very high standard, tasted delicious and a lovely presentation. Really handy spot just a few minutes from the top off the high street. We had a great time. WE WILL BE BACK.
Unfortunately, I was very disappointed with our dining experience at The Curious Fox which looked so promising. The menu on the website appeared to have vegan options but when dining there was only one vegan main course, no starter or desert. Started with soup which was delicious but all went downhill from there. My Dad had the steak which was tough and full of fatty bits. I had avocado & mango salad with extra chicken which I paid £6 for and was not a full chicken breast and was cooked to the point it was hard. I thought the service from the waitresses was attentive and pleasant but did not like the attitude of the manager. I had a particular issue with the approach he took in respect of my dog. I had asked in advance whether I could bring my dog and, as I would expect, ‘well behaved’ dogs are permitted. I fully accept that my dog let out a single bark on a couple of occasions but do not accept this was disruptive to the ambience of the restaurant or that it disturbed other diners. We were sat away from the main part of the restaurant and I doubt my dog could be heard above the pounding loud music. But nonetheless, I found him intolerant and unpleasant when he warned me about my dog. I immediately removed my dog from the restaurant. I do think that restaurants in Skipton that want to capitalise on the high number of visitors who have dogs do need to put their customers first and be a bit more accepting of the occasional bark.
Just had the 3 meat platter Sunday roast. It has got to be the best roast dinner we have ever had. It was well presented, perfectly cooked, a real plate full. Lee, the owner was very attentive and funny. The place has a lovely charm about it, inside and outside We would definitely be back next time we are in Skipton
