Authentic Stories from Diners
We had a great meal here last Friday. Everything was first class. We had ravioli and duck parfait for starters. The main course of sirloin steak and fish pie were excellent. A great chef. Looking forward to visiting again.
My wife would actually score it less. The restaurant is fundamentally ok but the conservatory area is dated [plastic roof] the service average and the wine is like a trip to the bargain isle at Aldi but at premium restaurant prices. We actually purchased a £35 bottle of Italian wine ( mid menu) that tasted worse than a £6 Hardys budget wine. We sent it away only to find it back on our table and on the bill . Our second choice was not much better a cheap Merlot! 45 minute wait before being asked for our order. No draught real ale but bottled real ale from a very cold fridge. My summary all the gear no idea won't be going back.. we are international diners with 40 years of experience and top reviewers as a result. Overall 3 / 4 out of 10 sorry.
Was recommended this place by our guest House landlady. I had the ravioli, I also shared the beef Wellington. The beef was the best ive tasted for a long time. The Ravioli and vegetables for excellent as well. From what I hear this restaurant is fully booked on Fridays and Saturdays so I suggest you book well in advance, it's a bit expensive but the food is worth it.
Had a brilliant experience at the Feather and Beak. We called earlier in the day to ask if we might sit outside as the courtyard area is so lovely and the sun was shining. We sat there for pre meal drinks until the sun dropped then moved into the conservatory which was a different experience again! Excellent service from the staff and Management - And to top it all the food (I had pressed lamb) was the best I think I’ve ever had!! I have been before & will definitely come again. Full marks!!
What an unexpected special gem of a place! Warm friendly welcome, great menu choices and amazing food - the photos really don’t do it justice. Found by a little internet research and we liked it so much that we are coming back next month!
