This combined ticket offers two distinct experiences that capture different facets of York's appeal. First, the York Dungeon presents a theatrical journey into the city's darker past, using live actors, special effects, and detailed sets to bring to life infamous events and characters from York’s medieval through early modern periods. Audiences are taken through a series of interactive chambers where they encounter tales of plague, crime, and punishment, all within the atmospheric confines of a historic building near the city center. Following this, the 45-minute sightseeing cruise on the River Ouse provides a contrasting perspective, drifting past landmarks such as the medieval city walls, Clifford’s Tower, and the imposing York Minster from the water, with commentary that touches on both historical facts and local lore. Key highlights inside the York Dungeon include the Gallows scene re-enactment, where visitors see the grim justice system of Tudor York, and the plague doctor’s chamber, complete with authentic smells and chilling soundscapes that evoke the terror of the Black Death. The actors engage visitors directly, combining humor with horror to create an immersive theatrical experience. On the river cruise, the slow passage under historic bridges offers ample opportunity to see centuries-old architecture reflected in the water, while the guide points out former merchant houses, the remains of Roman walls, and the modern developments along the quayside, blending York’s layered timeline. The Dungeon tour is conducted in small groups led by professional actors who perform scripted but interactive shows lasting around 75 minutes. This is followed by the boat cruise, which accommodates groups of up to 50 passengers, with seating both indoors and on open decks. The boat’s slow pace and gentle motion make it accessible to most visitors, while commentary is delivered via a live guide or recorded system depending on the day. Both attractions are located within a short walk of each other in central York, allowing easy transitions between them without the need for additional transport. This combination suits those interested in experiencing York’s historic atmosphere from both a dramatic and a scenic viewpoint. It appeals to visitors who enjoy storytelling that is both educational and theatrical, as well as those who appreciate seeing the city’s architecture and riverside environment from a different vantage point. Families with older children, history buffs, and those seeking an alternative to conventional sightseeing tours will find this package engaging and varied.

Absolutely amazing I chose to celebrate my birthday here for a special birthday treat at the end of the meal and a birthday card which was a nice touch. We got the choice to sit outside felt like we could of been on holiday away from the busy streets. The whole entire team who served us especially Josh treated us superbly. The food and drinks just unreal. We will definitely be visiting again

After a trip to York last year I saw this place and thought I must try it someday. Well I’m away with work and staying not far away so had a walk to give it a go. So glad I did! It was very authentic and decorated very warming. The menu is really good, and had plenty of choice, i went for the Antipasto to start and Arrabbiata with Italian spices sausage and oh my… it was stunning. I kept wiping the bowl clean with my finger when no one was watching it was that nice. Definitely recommend and will be back!

Great 1st experience of the restaurant. We were visiting my stepson and his fiance and on the website and reviews I chose to eat here for lunch. Paul and I are not from York so had a wander round and ended up at the restaurant 40 mins early. Lovely reception by the hostess explaining that they could serve us drinks only as the food menu started at 12pm. We were really happy to sit at our table and have a Peroni and pinot. When our guest joined us they were great with serving us more drink and ready to take our order. Paul had the brie to start and I had the king prawns both of which were superb in the cook and the flavour. Having gone to the pearly cow york the night before, which is a lot of food, Lewis had only olives to start but said they were gorgeous and some were really spicy. Joshua, our waiter, was brilliant. Paul plumped for the lobster ravioli and I said I'd had enough steak last night and could I have the Alfredo with chicken instead. Joshua said that was no problem and Lewis had the starter wild mushrooms as a main. Nothing in our requests was too much trouble for Joshua and Lucia. The food was amazing. You can always judge a restaurant on how it cooks it's pasta, no matter the sauce, and in my opinion it was perfect for both of us. The sauces were very tasty, their flavour combos are spot on. Joshua was great! Respectful of our timing, dietary changes and has the best sense of humour in a waiter I've seen in a good while. We had no deserts but then I always plump for a tiramisu martini in lieu of a desert and it was lush. We sat outside and the atmosphere and ambience was perfect. I can't recommend this restaurant highly enough. The staff are efficient, professional and very personable. The food is great and although I live in Birmingham and only visit occasionly Lucia will be my go to relaxing , chatting, great food experience.

We chose Lucia to celebrate our anniversary, and it was truly an unforgettable experience. The restaurant has such a lovely atmosphere — cozy, elegant, and perfect for a romantic evening. Every course was delicious, from the appetizers to dessert. The pasta tasted fresh and authentic, the flavors were beautifully balanced, and you could tell everything was made with passion. The staff were kind, attentive, and made sure our night felt special from start to finish. Highly recommended😍

Went for my birthday with family after a recommendation and my god, it did not disappoint! Everything about the experience from the minute we walked in was second to none. The food was out of this world, the cocktails were to die for and the service from everyone but especially Rhianna was exceptional. Really made my birthday special and the personal effort from her didn't go unnoticed. Will definitely return when next in York for sure. Thankyou to everyone there!
