Authentic Stories from Diners
We had dinner at the botanist York, Tuesday evening the place was empty when we arrived followed by two more tables during our meal, really quiet so had fast service. A lovely place however, we had the hanging kebab sharer and the lamb was full of gristle. Really off putting and we coul not at it, we let our server know and she couldn’t really care less and just said she’ll let the chef know after we leave, no apology or discount considering we literally couldn’t eat this, so a bit of a shame considering it is £42 for this meal. Overall a nice place and location and would visit again to try a different meal if ever in York.
We had a really great experience at the Botanist in York over the Christmas period. The staff were warm and attentive. We did have to wait long before we were served even in the busy period. The hanging kebabs were amazing, deserts were fantastic. The kids loved their kebabs too Overall a lovely family meal. We will return 🙂
Fabulous cocktails and great atmosphere, will definitely visit again! I had the Cantaloupe spritz as I'd not heard of or had one of these before but it was delicious 😋. My husband had a couple or porn star martinis and with these being hand made they are gorgeous! Definitely worth a visit.
we had an amazing time at the botanist for our xmas party. the 3 course xmas meal was delightful. Aaron ross was extremely helpful with the whole process. He gave us a look around before we came and helped us with the booking of the whole event. on the day he was our server , he was amazing. really big thank you to him as he made our night so much better and less stressful!!!
Prebooked and ordered for a group of twenty, didn’t have enough staff to cover the full restaurant plus a large prebooked group, food was ok, a few burgers were overcooked and dry, service was slow and patchy for the above reason. Condiments didn’t arrive until mains were mostly finished. Mid way through our meal the music was turned up in the upstairs area to the point we couldn’t hear one another whilst shouting and a big deal was made about having to turn down a disco in a seated restaurant setting. Overall the service took 2 and a half hours, no loo rolls in the ladies toilets which were requested twice before having to stand and wait until someone retrieved them.
